Serving the Community, Edgemead. At approximately 06h42, District Central received a panic alarm from the retirement village in Edgemead. Shift Commander de Kock arrived at 06h45 and the on-site security informed him of an elderly gentleman that was stuck in bed. Shift Commander de Kock requested assistance. Area Manager Opperman arrived at the unit to assist. The gentleman explained to the officers that this has happened before especially when the wounds in his foot become infected. At 06h57, ER24 arrived at the unit. The gentleman was transported to Panorama Hospital for further treatment.
Edgemead Crime Trend. A resident from Rankin Way, Edgemead went to the business center to get a few necessities; when he returned to his vehicle, he noticed that his door was slightly open. He thought he might have forgotten it open, climbed into his vehicle and went home. Upon arriving at the premises, he noticed that the items he had in the back of the vehicle was now missing. He returned to the center and informed District Watch. Armed Response Officer Stassen was dispatched and arrived at the center at approximately 17h10. There were no force marks on the door, only finger prints. It is suspected that there was a remote jammer nearby. Items taken include a laptop and IPad. SAPS were informed.
