Plattekloof Crime Trends. At approximately 01h50, Armed Response Officer Marais was dispatched to assist at a service station in Plattekloof after a panic signal was received. Upon her arrival at the scene, she spoke to one of the attendants who informed her that they had been robbed. It was reported that a silver Polo had pulled up and requested to have the vehicle filled. Four of the five occupants, held the attendant at gunpoint and entered the store. The rest of the staff were then held at gunpoint while two of the suspects went to empty the tills as well as clear the safe. They also took an unknown amount of cigarettes. Officer Marais requested that SAPS be dispatched and they arrived at the scene at approximately 02h04. Law Enforcement arrived soon after, along with Shift Commander Stassen and Armed Response Officer Germishuys. Officer Marais made contact with the owner and the manager and received permission to view the footage. SAPS took over the scene and continued taking statements from everyone. The manager informed her that the staff would be receiving trauma counselling.
Serving the Community, Plattekloof. District Central dispatched Area Manager Marais to a premises in Blombos Street, Plattekloof to assist with a medical. Upon arrival at the premises Area Manager Marais had found that a male had fallen down and sustained a laceration to his head. Area Manager Marais checked his vitals and placed a trauma pad on the wound. ER24 arrived some time later and Area Manager Marais handed the patient over to the medics who treated him further. He was loaded into the ambulance and taken to Panorama Hospital.
